Code of Conduct

The following Code of Conduct applies to PLN air partner and associate members. Failure to comply with the PLN Code of Conduct could result in expulsion from the network.
1.1 Members are to communicate efficiently and promptly within a maximum of 24 hours, irrespective of whether this concerns operations, sales leads, financial matters, management decisions or any other business. Communication must be strictly personal and bulk emails to multiple members as well as bulk rate and service promotions are strictly prohibited.
1.2 Members must mutually agree the rules for handling fees and profit share among themselves. We encourage Members to exchange net – net airfreight rates to other PLN members when they are asked to quote on traffic unless otherwise agreed, (selling rates or subject to handling fees) and to clearly state the terms and conditions on each quote. Unless agreed otherwise, we encourage members to adopt the industry’s standard profit share of 50-50 split basis on routed business only. That is covering airfreight only and not local origin or destination charges. Any pre-payment request or a quote subject to dead freight penalty must be informed in written clearly before booking acceptance at the time of quotation and only.
1.3 Credit terms must not exceed 30 days from the end of the monthly statement, unless otherwise agreed between two members. A credit limit of 5.000 $ minimum is advised to be granted automatically between all members, unless otherwise agreed between the two parties. Members which cannot honor am credit limit and terms due to strict internal compliance and credit policies and request up-front payments should inform PLN management team prior accepting booking.
1.4 The accounts department by each member must send monthly statements to include the invoice number, invoice date and amount.
1.5 PLN is a non-exclusive network. Unless otherwise agreed between two parties, members are permitted to continue to route and handle “routed” traffic destined to, originating from, and generated by non-PLN members.
1.6 In case of dispute(s) between PLN members each party must first make an all-out effort to resolve the dispute(s) among themselves. If no mutually acceptable decision can be reached, the PLN member may request assistance from the PLN Management. Disputes are investigated and are due to an evaluation and mediation procedure during the annual PLN general conference. Only two PLN founding members appointed by the PLN management are entitled to act as mediators. Mediators and PLN management will carry one vote each (total three votes) to take a decision on a specific dispute unless a settlement has been successfully agreed among the two parties during the evaluation and mediation procedure. Disputes must be reported no later than 60 days for member to be legible to an investigation, evaluation, and mediation process.
1.7 Airfreight charges should be prepaid on the Master Airwaybill, unless the airline accepts ‘collect’ charges at a lower mutually agreed rate.
1.8 Air freight charges should be prepaid wherever possible, unless mutually agreed in writing between the members.
1.9 PLN cannot be held responsible in case commercial and/or financial obligations are not met by (a) PLN member(s).
1.10 PLN Members should use the name and/or the emblem of the PLN on all printed matter and stationery, on all their buildings and vehicles, used by the member for the purpose of their business, or otherwise.
1.11 When a company ceases to be a PLN member, the company is no longer entitled to use the name of the PLN and/or the PLN emblem. Any reference to the PLN thus must be removed from printed matter/stationery, buildings/vehicles or otherwise. Failing to adhere to this proviso may result in legal proceedings against the company concerned.
1.12 All members must have Internet access and e-mail capability and must be fully protected by anti-virus software.
1.13 These clauses can only be varied between members by mutual agreement in writing or where commercially justified.
